Legislative Testimony
Jeany Rush testified against three bills in early February. She opposed House Bill 26-1040 requiring counseling on sterilization for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, arguing families should make medical decisions for disabled relatives without government interference. Rush opposed Senate Bill 26-005 allowing state court remedies for immigration enforcement violations, contending Colorado cannot override federal authority or national security determinations. She listed seven Americans killed by persons in the country illegally, arguing enforcement prevents tragedies. Rush opposed House Bill 26-1036 creating local taxes on vacant residential property, comparing it to Bolshevik housing seizures and arguing it violates property rights and TABOR protections. She noted Colorado increased government employment by 189%, three times faster than private employment, creating unsustainable budget deficits. Rush objected to safety clauses preventing voter input on all three bills.
