Alamosa County Coroner Joe Dzuris officially announced his candidacy for re-election. Seeking a second term Dzuris aims to continue his commitment to providing professional compassionate and transparent medicolegal death investigations for the citizens of Alamosa County.
Since taking office in January of 2023, Dzuris has focused on modernizing the coroner’s office and strengthening its role with the local law enforcement agencies and public health systems. Under his leadership, the office recently celebrated the dedication of a new Coroner’s facility, a milestone that has greatly improved the operational efficiency of medicolegal investigations and provide a more dignified space for grieving families.
“It has been a profound honor to serve the citizens of Alamosa County during some of their most difficult moments”
It has been my focus from day one to ensure that every investigation is handled with the highest level of integrity and accuracy and that every family is treated with respect and compassion.
Dzuris emphasized that the coroner’s office must remain independent and focused on facts, science and public service. The role of coroner is not political, it’s about determining the truth, maintaining the public trust and supporting the families during their most difficult times.
If re–elected Dzuris plans to continue strengthening death investigation practices in Alamosa County by continuing education for himself and his Deputy Coroners, operational improvements and continue a strong collaboration with local law enforcement and public health partners.
“I am asking for your support to continue this vital work”, Dzuris added.
Together we can ensure that the Alamosa County Coroner’s Office remains a cornerstone of death investigation, innovation, and professional public service.
