From my perch, America at 250 seems not to be in a particularly celebratory mood, and it’s more than just being stuck in the middle of an unpopular and embarrassing war. Perhaps one reason for such meager enthusiasm on an otherwise auspicious anniversary is because many of our people have become spiritually tired and morally feeble. In his first inaugural address President George Washington stated, “there exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble bond between virtue and happiness.” Novelist Michael D. O’Brien asks, “Does the erosion begin when we decide that God is there first and foremost…
Dear Editor, I had the opportunity to attend the School Board of Directors meeting on 22 June 2026. All the hub-bub was about the School Board pushing through a “proclamation” recognizing the “Pride Month” secular designation as a school board initiative. Here’s the problem. Board President, Casey Martin, doesn’t understand Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedure with regard to “Declaration of Proclamation.” This surprises me, as he claims to have graduated law school. Curious. When a Proclamation is proposed, it has to be vetted. The “proclamation” by the Buena Vista School Board is procedurally improper, as a Proclamation must undergo scrutiny…
In an amazing display of ignorance at best, the Buena Vista Colorado School Board passed a “Proclamation” while ignoring proper, transparent, procedure, regarding “Pride Month.” They are: https://www.bvschools.org/page/board-of-education The initial proclamation was sent via email to the School Board on or about the 8th of June, 2026. They ratified the proclamation on 22 June 2026. So, why is this important? Because our own elected school board ignored the proper procedure. As an aside, the three new board members all had illegal campaign signs for the last election, but, that may be for another article. So, back to the issue at…
It’s a typical afternoon in Saint-Denis, the narrow streets packed with people whose faces you cannot see. The women move in niqab, shapes without features, eyes that do not meet yours. The shop signs are in Arabic, the smell of cumin and lamb fat rises from every doorway, thick and permanent, as if the street itself has been marinated in another world. From three directions at once, the call to prayer cuts through the air. Al-lahu Akbar. God is great. Come to prayer. Come to salvation.Even the French police do not enter without backup. Ambulances request escorts before responding to…
We have all seen this or that regarding Bill Gates wanting to introduce ticks and Google wanting to release mosquitoes. I am here to tell you that during all this “gloom and doom, they’re trying to kill us”, that there is hope. Italians eat a lot of garlic. Say what you will, as I am 1/4 Italian, myself, I grow my own garlic, and in my culinary opinion, there is no such thing as “too much garlic.” That is almost as heretical as “this is too chocolatey.” So, why all the Nonna blather? Garlic has an active ingredient called allicin.…
This is the first of a three part series when U.S. and Soviet soldiers met at the Elbe River during WWII. Patton had pushed far into the agreed Soviet zone as Nazi Germany was collapsing. The first part of the history is below. 13:30 hundred hours on 25 April 1945, First Lieutenant Albert Katsubu stood on the West bank of the Elbe River and looked through field glasses at the men he had spent three years moving toward without ever truly imagining as flesh. The river was dark that day, not dramatic in the way history prefers its rivers, not…
The Abbey at Bingen Hildegard of Bingen’s natural health remedies, rooted in her holistic philosophy that connects body, mind, and spirit, emphasize the use of herbs, diet, and lifestyle balance to achieve “viriditas” (life force) and inner order. Her two primary medical texts, Physica and Causae et Curae, detail hundreds of natural cures, with scientific studies suggesting many of her 437 herbal claims for 175 plants are statistically significant and medically relevant. Key components of her remedial approach include:Core Herbs: She frequently prescribed Bertram for digestion and blood quality, Galangal for heart health and circulation, Fennel for respiratory ailments and…
The following is a guest article from a very wise friend of mine. He is twenty plus years my senior, yet, he lived through the initial stages of why we are in the mess we are today. His experience is telling. He writes: Many of my ‘Boomer’ generation will fondly remember the iconic magazine art produced by the gifted American Illustrator, Norman Rockwell, whose imaginative Saturday Evening Post covers captured the quintessence of American life during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. I grew up at the tail end of Norman Rockwell’s America, a world which has long since evaporated into…
It is always fascinating to me that history books do not teach the students about men as the one this article is written about. I came upon Kinsel’s story reading an article on Rommel, and thought this needed to be published. Afterall, that is what real history geeks do, right? Here it is! John Kinsel Sr. was one of the last surviving Navajo Code Talkers, a group of U.S. Marines who used the unbreakable Navajo language to transmit secret communications during World War II. He passed away on October 19, 2024, at the age of 107 at his home in Lukachukai, Arizona. The world grows quieter once…
Germany, April 1945. The war was officially ending, but the stench of evil was still fresh. While the rest of the world looked toward the peace tables in Berlin, General George S. Patton, Jr. was leading a victory column through the heart of Thuringia, deep in the German heartland. He wasn’t tucked away in a safe rear echelon headquarters. He was exposed, defiant, riding in an open armored car. His iconic ivory-handled revolvers glinting in the pale spring sun. But inside a captured manor near Weimar, the general’s march came to a sudden, sickening halt. Patton entered an oak-paneled study that…
