In an amazing display of ignorance at best, the Buena Vista Colorado School Board passed a “Proclamation” while ignoring proper, transparent, procedure, regarding “Pride Month.” They are: https://www.bvschools.org/page/board-of-education The initial proclamation was sent via email to the School Board on or about the 8th of June, 2026. They ratified the proclamation on 22 June 2026. So, why is this important? Because our own elected school board ignored the proper procedure. As an aside, the three new board members all had illegal campaign signs for the last election, but, that may be for another article.
So, back to the issue at hand. I have served on several boards as well as have been educated regarding Robert’s Rules, as I am a graduate of a Xaverian High School. Regardless of you’re being “in favor” of this illegal proclamation, or “against” this proclamation, with regard to the political feelings, the proclamation is illegal.
The initiative should have started in February, 2026 as a proposal. After editing, it should have been proposed AND PUBLISHED in the newspapers, as of 1 March 2026. The School Board will then have had a public meeting.
A second meeting in the next month, there would be continued discussion, and, if the vote was called to approve, the proclamation would have been board approved. RATIFICATION would take another month, and implementation would have been on 1 June 2026.

The standing “Proclamation” of the Buena Vista Colorado School Board is both parliamentary illegal, and, if you really think about it, is defamatory to the minority the wished to elevate, as their cause wasn’t worthy of proper procedure. You may not like this, yet, as a Constitutional American, you cannot disagree. May God heal this county, Through Christ, Our Lord. AMEN, +.
