The family and I heard the news. The 31st MEU is heading to Iran. We have been expecting this. They are based on the Rock. It is a long haul from one side of the earth to the other, unless you are one of those flat earth types, then they fall off and must start back over. The task force is led by the USS Tripoli. We covered it earlier when the USS Ford deployed. We have been waiting on this for a couple of reasons, It carries the F35s along with the Marines. This gives two platforms for the F35s, the Tripoli and the Lincoln. The Ford is the newest carrier and is unable to support the F35s. That’s a multibillion-dollar mistake.

The big guess is how soon it will arrive. The experts are saying it might be a couple of weeks. We think it will be sooner. We are pretty sure they have been heading that way since the conflict started. If they haven’t been, someone f@cked up.
We figure the MEU will be used to take the islands. There are about a dozen of them that the Iranians use to lay mines and fire rockets towards ships transiting the Strait. Some Marines might be on the mainland to keep rockets from firing into the Strait also.
Either way, there are some happy Jarheads and squids enroute.
