In a dramatic reversal, the Associated Students of Fort Lewis College voted during an emergency meeting on November 7, 2025, to approve the Turning Point USA chapter that had been denied just one week earlier.
The emergency session included action items to rescind Senate Resolution 25-19 and reconsider Turning Point USA as a Registered Student Organization under Senate Resolution 25-20.
“APPROVED
VICTORY SECURED.
THEY — tried to deny TRUTH.
THEY — underestimated the strength of WE THE PEOPLE.
TPUSA — FLC have broken through every barrier, silenced every doubt, and proven that courage still conquers corruption.
This isn’t approval — it’s a declaration.
A declaration that the American spirit cannot be contained, and the movement for faith, freedom, and our Constitution is unstoppable.
From the mountains of Colorado to the heart of our nation —
So proud of these patriots – They didn’t back down, they united, they were unafraid and unwavering.
Because when patriots stand together, tyranny falls.”
The original denial on October 30 sparked significant backlash, including a letter from Colorado House Republicans and a counter-petition that gathered over 1,000 signatures. Senior Jonah Flynn, who led the effort to establish the chapter following the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, had filed an appeal and vowed to pursue “the Christian way” of going “up the chain” rather than immediately filing a lawsuit.
The reversal represents a significant victory for free speech advocates who argued the initial denial constituted viewpoint discrimination at a public institution.
