The only math that matters right now is the kind you do at the pump. In 2024, when whoever was in the White House, filling up the Silverado meant watching $100 disappear every time. This week under Trump? Twenty-eight gallons for under seventy bucks. Running over 36000 miles in 2024, over $10500 in gas. This year, if the miles stay the same, $6500. That is $4000 savings in real money..
Sure, beef prices are up. But with that kind of savings, I can still eat steak. And maybe finally pull the trigger on those new wheels, tires, and a lift kit. Then the Subaru drivers on 285 will really have something to think about when I roll up behind them while they are doing their 45 in the 60 MPH lane.
Speaking of Silverados—I was in a bar a while back, somewhere between the second and third round, and there was this girl from Nebraska up on stage. Kaylyn Sahs. Couldn’t have been much older than mid-twenties, but the voice was the real deal. Turns out she grew up outside Omaha, moved to Nashville with her mom and dad.. And she’d written a song about a truck.
Not some corporate Nashville committee track. A real song, from someone who probably grew up knowing the difference between a half-ton and a three-quarter.
Look her up. “Song About A Truck.” Stream it. Buy it. Whatever you do these days.
Because if gas is cheap, beef is still on the table, and there’s a Nebraska girl writing honest truck songs—maybe things aren’t as broken as they want you to believe.
Now, if we could only fix the broken elections.
