ADVANCED TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGIES
Sounds to grandiose, so technical, so charged with promise?
“The U.S. energy grid is under growing pressure from the boom in DATA CENTERS, rising use of artificial intelligence, expansion of domestic manufacturing, and extreme weather, among other factors. Further, U.S. grid planners have increased their forecasts for electricity load growth through 2029 fivefold from expectations of just two years ago.1 At the same time, the nation is contending with an estimated 2,600 gigawatt backlog of generation projects waiting to connect to the grid.”
The U.S. and Canadian electric power grids are connected through 37 major transmission lines from New England to the Pacific Northwest.
Transmission (5 – 15% of your total bill) Once electricity is generated, it travels long distances through high-voltage transmission lines that move power across regions and states. These costs are typically pass-through; your utility directly charges you based on what they are charged, no mark- up.
“Despite the potential benefits offered by these advanced transmission technologies, several broad issues impede their integration and adoption. Ensuring safety of utility personnel when working on equipment, Magnetic field issues, market readiness, market design issues, insufficient incentives, misalignment of incentives, utility risk aversion due to traditional liability issues, operator training to achieve proficiency, planning limitations, incumbency issues, third party operation of equipment, and mitigation of cybersecurity concerns are all challenges that require nontechnical solutions and new approaches by utilities, grid operators, and regulators. “ DON’T FORGET MAGNETIC FIELDS!
When you look at the fallacies of the Colorado Energy Plans, PUC operations, and the Falsehood of the “Colorado Clean Energy Act” criteria, the premise falls FLAT! Further, in light of a few weeks ago, you all shot down the serious and really important bill by Ken Degraaf for Grid Resilience – HB26-1124, which actually was, is Critical to Colorado and America, I find this bill not the right time, and not the right place. There is so much to really do in Colorado, like Dump your Hoax Green, Not Clean (hundreds pages of clean/dirty rules, fees, penalties) and create real ENERGY LIKE COAL, OIL, NATURAL GAS! You are relying on totally unreliable, unsustainable, HUGELY EXPENSIVE, & HELPING OUTSIDERS, SHELL CORPORATIONS, PRIVATE CORPS, WELL, everyone but the people of Colorado. The Dangers of high transmission lines is being ignored, and worse, being promoted in ways that enhance areas far away from our lands, fields, and yet take our lands, our ranchers, and our citizens for the RIDE OF THEIR LIFETIME BY WAY OF PROMISES TO NEVER BE REALIZED. You even allow outsiders, and inside energy companies like Excel, (THANKS PUC) to file land TAKINGS before court orders or changes are even approved.
THE BIGGEST DANGER TO ENERGY CURRENTLY IN AMERICA IS THE FURTHER CENTRALIZATION OF THE GRID, AND THAT leads to vulnerabilities so enemies can shut down a small group of sources, and paralyze us all!
The other really big issue is the reason, WHY, are we cramming DATA CENTERS EVERYWHERE, WHICH WILL REDUCE JOBS BY A TON, EAT ENERGY BY A TON, AND LEAVE US ALL IN THE DARK! Over 384 data centers in the four states around us, and 24 hyper data centers. WOW WHY WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE $$$$
NO ONE IS FACING THE HUGE DANGERS OF DATA CENTERS, AND THEIR STARVING OUT WHOLE CITIES WITH ELECTRICITY AND WATER CONSUMPTION. JUST WHO ARE WE REALLY HELPING HERE?
Better idea: LET’S CREATE A SYSTEM WHEREBY ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AND LEGISLATURE SIT ON A BIKE AND PEDDLE WHILE THEY SPEAK, AND HAVE IT GENERATE ELECTRICITY WHILE THEY ARE IN SESSION: LET’S MAKE THIS MANDATORY FOR EVERY MEMBER! LETS PUT IT ON A SAFETY CLAUSE – WE THE PEOPLE APPROVE IN ADVANCE AND WE DO OUTNUMBER YOU, AND WE DO PAY YOUR SALARY! I BET THE NUMBER OF OUTRAGEOUS BILLS WOULD DECLINE TREMENDOUSLY! LETS DO THAT!
