On May 29, 2024, the Colorado Secretary of State announced that an additional $1.5 million taxpayer dollars will be made available to beef up the “Gold Standards of Elections”. This is on top of the $3.5 million taxpayer dollars that was made available in February 2024. The question is, what kind of Gold Standard needs more money poured into it?
Griswold says she is proud of the election judges and thinks they need $3 an hour extra. Is this due to a nonexistent increase in living costs? She also calls them “Heros”. I’m not sure where her definition of hero comes from, but election judges in the US do not qualify as heroes. I can understand if we were living in a banana republic and the lives of the election judges were threatened. Does she know something we don’t?
She is making more money available for voting centers to be open on the Sunday before elections, they are not required to be under State law.
The taxpayer’s money may also be used for the following.
- Adding or upgrading locks or key card access to areas where election activities occur.
- Upgrading 24-hour drop box surveillance footage, including with the purchase of additional security cameras.
- Hiring new or additional security personnel at voting locations.
- County network infrastructure improvements.
- Domain upgrades to .gov.
- Installation of ramps and automatic doors at voting locations.
- Parking lot or curb accessibility improvements at voting locations.
- Costs associated with improved language assistance at VSPCs for voters with limited English proficiency.
- Adding handicap parking to polling places.
Will the additional cameras will allow the citizens to log in and watch their local drop boxes from the convenience of their home? Will the security personnel be used to assist the mules in their ballot harvesting?
