Summit County commissioners approved affordable housing deed restrictions for 18 units at their February 24 meeting, completing the county’s commitment to provide 59 units by December 31, 2026 under state Proposition 123 requirements. The board denied a property tax abatement request seeking to reduce a Lake Cliffe Condos unit valuation from $1,017,300 to $807,000, with the assessor’s office recommending the current valuation be maintained based on comparable sales within the complex.
The deed restrictions cover eight units at Bristlecone Condos in Silverthorne and ten units at a Frisco transit facility currently under construction. Property owners Zeta and Thomas Switlik filed the abatement petition in December 2025 after missing the regular protest period. An attorney appearing remotely challenged the county’s methodology, but commissioners approved the assessor’s recommendation maintaining the current valuation.
The board also proclaimed March 2026 as Women’s History Month, approved four library board trustee appointments, and passed routine consent agenda items including a Beer & Wine License manager change for Moon Fries at Copper Mountain.
