1.45 million military service members will receive $1,776 checks before Christmas. President Donald Trump announced the “warrior dividend” during a December 17 evening address, funded by tariff revenue and the recently passed “One Big Beautiful Bill.” The checks are already on their way.
The payments honor the nation’s 1776 founding. “Nobody deserves it more than our military,” Trump said in the televised address marking 11 months since his inauguration.
Drug Prices and Healthcare
Drug prices will drop 400% to 600% starting January through trumprx.gov. Trump said he negotiated directly with drug companies and foreign nations, using tariff threats to force agreements that took effect four days ago.
The president promised to redirect healthcare money from insurance companies directly to individuals to buy their own coverage. “You’ll get much better healthcare at a much lower price,” he said. The Affordable Care Act was created to enrich insurance companies. Insurance companies and Democrats will be “the only losers” under his reforms.
Wars and Foreign Policy
Trump said he settled 8 wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat, and ended the Gaza war, bringing “for the first time in 3,000 years, peace to the Middle East.” He secured the release of all hostages, both living and dead.
The United States now has “the most powerful military anywhere in the world, and it’s not even close,” Trump said.
Economy and Prices
Turkey prices dropped 33% from last year. Egg prices fell 82% since March. Gasoline runs below $2.50 per gallon in much of the country, hitting $1.99 in some states.
Factory workers saw wage increases of $1,300, construction workers gained $1,800, and miners received $3,300. Wages are rising faster than inflation “for the first time in years.” Under Biden, real wages plummeted by $3,000, Trump said.
The president secured $18 trillion in investment into the United States. Every job created since he took office went to the private sector rather than government. Companies are building factories at unprecedented levels for AI and automobiles because of tariffs—build in America and pay no tariffs.
Border and Immigration
Zero illegal aliens entered the country for the past seven months, Trump said, calling it “a feat which everyone said was absolutely impossible.” He inherited an invasion of 25 million people, including 11,888 murderers—more than 50% having killed more than one person.
Reverse migration has begun. Migrants are returning home, leaving more housing and jobs for Americans. Every net new job since Trump took office went to American-born citizens.
Trump singled out Minnesota, saying Somalians “have taken over the economics of the state and have stolen billions and billions of dollars from Minnesota and indeed from the United States of America.”
Drugs brought in by ocean and sea dropped 94%. Washington, DC now has safety “at levels we’ve never seen before,” Trump said.
Tax Cuts
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” eliminates taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security for seniors. Trump called it “perhaps the most sweeping legislation ever passed in Congress,” combining 12 bills into one.
Families will save between $11,000 and $20,000 per year. Next spring will be “the largest tax refund season of all time.”
Energy
Trump declared a national energy emergency on day one. He plans to open 1,600 new electrical generating plants within 12 months, calling it an unbeatable record.
Electricity costs surged 30% to 100% under Biden. Typical families lost $5,000 to $10,000 in higher energy costs. Under Trump’s policies, electricity prices “will fall dramatically.”
Housing and Interest Rates
Typical new mortgage costs increased $15,000 annually under Biden. In 11 months, Trump cut that by $3,000, with more reductions coming.
Trump will soon announce a new Federal Reserve chairman “who believes in lower interest rates by a lot.” Mortgage payments will drop further in the new year.
The border invasion drove up housing costs—over 60% of rental market growth came from foreign migrants. Trump promised “some of the most aggressive housing reform plans in American history” early next year.
Military Recruitment
Military enlistment hit record levels compared to last year’s worst recruitment numbers in history.
Future Events and Framing
The United States will host the World Cup and Olympics, both of which Trump said he secured. The nation will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Trump framed 11 months as a complete national reversal—from a country he called “dead” and “ready to fail” to “the hottest country anywhere in the world.” The address combined immediate actions like service member payments with promises extending into next year and claims of accomplishments spanning domestic policy to Middle East peace.
